Open a project and the scale is way zoomed out.

Hey Everyone,

While working on a project where my STL models are centered the scale now when i open the project or add new objects Zooms me way way out. I have to zoom in for a long time and recenter to find the model and i'm having trouble moving around the model as well it sometimes disappears. What happened and can i reset it somehow?

I got to V16 or something as well so would not like to lose this project due to not being able to work with it.

hi @Anonymous,

Can you share the model here?  Without the model, it is very hard to tell what might be wrong.  My guess is that the model (or some part of it) has moved to some great distance away from the origin, but I cannot really tell without seeing the model itself.

thanks,

JEff

Hi Jeff, Do You have a email I can use. Don't want the model public.

I replied to you via private message.  Yes, there was one body that was a very long distance away from the rest of the model, which was causing the Zoom All to produce that extremely zoomed out view.

I got this very same issue. One part of my drawing is way zoomed out as well, causing my intire drawing to be rediculously zoomed out.

I already discovered the problem on my own. I just can't figure out how to change this.

Strange how this problem is marked as solved. It might be solved for the original poster, but not for anyone reading this forum..

If there's any, could you please share the solution?

Thnks!

It was marked as solved by the OP. It is usually not a good idea to respond to an older closed thread.

I am wondering if you actually read Jeff’s responses.

1. He asked to see the model/.f3d file

2. He very clearly explained what the problem was.

Since the problem is caused by something in the model being very far away from something else in the model, the obvious solution is to make sure that something in the model is NOT very far away from something else in the model.

I always tend to find and respond to existing threads, rather than posting new threads to discuss problems that have been addresses before, and thereby cluttering up the forum. I know it's a 2 years old thread, but this problem seems quite universal to me.

To answer your question:

Yes, I sure did read Jeff's comments and I do understand he was asking to see the model in a private message.

Jeff's comments were indeed very clear and really helped me understanding the problem, but that's only is step one.

I would love to know how to fix the problem exactly, and that doesn't seem to get mensioned in any of the comments.

Thank you for your reply. How do we do this exactly? I've tried to open the drawing of the object seperately and zoom in to a normal distance and set that 'current view as Home'.

To be a little clearer, this zoomed out object is part of a electrical enclosure and is drawn right in it, so it is't far away of any other components at all..

Open the offending Component's file. Turn on every light bulb at every level of the Project Browser. If you don't find any physical geometry that's far away, perhaps you have an origin that is far away, or a Sketch that has a line or a point or something far away.

If you find, for example, that some physical geometry (a Body) within a Component is far away from that Component's Origin, move that Body closer (or in fact move it TO) that Origin.
