Offset an oval shape

In Sketch Mode, I have created an oval joining the outside of two circles. I need to create an "Offset" line based on the outline of the oval. I did this several times yesterday.

Problem - Today I can only select one arch of either circle or the joining line segment. How can I select   all of the line segments of the oval so that I can apply the Offset?

Please and thank you.

I need some help.

Is there a "key" that needs to be held down. I have tried SHIFT to select each line segment but it did not help. I can still only select one line segment at a time.

Bob,

For security reasons, Is there a way to send a screen shot without posting it on the Forum? Or is there a way that I can copy a Sketch and Paste it into another project file?

Regards,

Kevin

Hi Bob,

Please see screen shot attached. I want to select and "Offset" the value for new lines based on the outer circumference of the oval.

Kevin,

I cannot seem to select multiple edges and from what I gather in the help file you will need to trim out the internal geometry in order to offset the geometry you need.

Help file link is below.

http://fusion360.autodesk.com/resources/akn/view/NINVFUS/ENU/?guid=GUID-CF608222-A96F-4FF7-9808-5E2E...

It states this: You can offset any sketch entities on the sketch plane. Offset supports individual lines and curves, a chain of connected entities, and profiles. You can make only one selection.

Please consider logging a forum post here looking for the ability to make multiple selections to pick outer geometry.

Yes, we realize that this needs to be improved, and we have a project in process to fix this:  Being able to offset multiple curves at the same time  Not that this number means anything to you, but the internal tracking number is: FUS-17083.

Thank you Don.

Yes, it might be a good addional method for others. I did a "work-around" on Wednesday but did not write it down and I have been running a fever so that does not help. If I can remember how, I will add to this post and/or make the sugestion as you said.

This is useful, when using the sketched outside/inside geometry to create constuction lines for hole centers or other walls that must be drawn and extruded from a specified referance point.

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for bringing it to our attention and Jeff has logged this internally so we will take it from here. Since its now captured we hope to improve this soon. If you have a better work around to post please do so others may benefit. For me I had to trim the internal geometry away.

Best Regards,

Don

Hi Kevin,

Not really a work around but you could offset the circles first and draw the tangent lines later, saves you trimming the interior lines.

You can offset circles even when they intersect.

You can also put a Center to Center Slot on the 2 circles which you can select to offset without the need to trim the interior lines.

Hope is of any help.

Best regards,

Ludo
