Odd joint behaivor with linked component

I have been fighting this odd issue where I am able to create a joint with a linked component into the project I am working with. But once I complete the joint and hit OK. If I want to go back and edit the joint all the constraints are lost and the linked component is positioned back where it was first placed in the new project. A few screen shots:

The joint in question with the components pointed out. This is right before attempting to edit the joint.

Immediately after hitting edit joint. The red linked component jumps to its original imported location and all the component references are gone in the edit joint dialog box.

Have you thought about breaking the link?

Yes,

After fighting this for a while I just broke the link and it fixed the problem. Doesn't seem like the intended functionality though.

Hi @bgoddard79,

I'm not quite sure what happen or what you did. But importing a component and not breaking the link, for that you need a really good excuse.

Right now, F360 doesn't support editing an imported component inside an assembly. The only thing you can do with it, it's joining it.

Unless you have a really good excuse not to break the link, break the link immediately after you import the component. Working with it will much easier.

Cheers / Ben

In this particular case I can deal with breaking the link as the component should not ever need to be changed or updated.

However I also have a large assembly included in this design. This assembly was getting pretty hard to work with so I brought it into this new design as a linked file. I cant break the link here as I am still making changes out in this linked file.  I understand that I can not edit the linked file without opening it by itself. Being able to edit the joints that locate the linked component seems like something you should be able to do though.

Can you share a screenshot, part count etc ?

Here is a screen shot of the assembly that I broke off and brought back in as a linked file
