odd fillet situation

I have run into an odd fillet situation with this part.

I am joining a revolved body to an extruded body and get an incomplete fillet, see attached.

 

I don't think the issue is that one body was revolved and one was extruded.

 

Basically I get an incomplete fillet.

 

Fusion is usually pretty good about making fillets, something I rather appreciate, but this one took me a bit by surprise.

Perhaps a bug??

You have access, In the Botzen Design Folder, HexaVox v63 the last few operations make that part.

 

Same build, different part. I was able to power through the last issue. Actually I have a fantastic metal print from shape ways. It's quite the unbelievable part.

Wow, that print came out great.  Is that really metal?  I suspect that it was pretty expensive to print, but it looks great!

 

Now, for your fillet question.  The results, unfortunately are expected.  It's because these surfaces (indicated by the red arrows) are not continuous - there is a small face (indicated by the blue arrow) in between.

So, fillet cannot blend the faces that I suspect that you want.  If you can figure out some way to get those faces blended, I suspect fillet will work as you expect.

@jeff_strater I see what is going on here. Not an easy part to build with a revolve and an extrude to get them to meet correct. I will probably have to loft a few surfaces somewhere.

As for the part. Yes, it's metal! it's a pretty sweet part. The cost was just over $300. Not to bad considering what you get. A hollow metal part that is not manufacturable in any other way.
