Noob Fusion 360 Question

Hi there. So trying to teach myself Fusion 360 and am attemting a small design. I am looking to creating a ring with a slit in it, so looking to create a center point arc, then use the Offset tool to make it a 3D object before exruding. However everytime I try and sketch an arc it seem to create a negative. For example: if I specify I want hte arc to be 320 degree, it creates a line that fills the other 40 degrees. Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong here? I have attached a video showing what I mean. Any help is greatly appreciated 🙂

Yes it is a bit weird but I simply sketch the arc with mouse clicks only THEN dimension it.

Appreciate the reply. So manually create the ark and no worry about degrees, then how do I dimention the end points as degrees?

select 1 2 3 holding shift key.... isn't that obvious?.........I hope you can see my sarcasm there! I didn't know how I did it first up and there must be another way as I don't think I knew!arc4.jpg

Definitely not the most intuative way of doing that 🙂 Can I quicjly ask how you managed to make sure that the opening of the arc was perfectly up at the top. Able to use the dimention tool to create the right size arc now however can't seem to control which direction the opening is.

That is the reason for Construction Lines, place the center one to the center of the arc vertical, then dimension the other two to the arc endpoints.

Hi,

I would strongly recommend that you do the embedded tutorials in the Fusion Documentation and also some of the

Self-Paced Learning to help you to learn fusion faster and better. They can be found here:

It is also much easier for the forum to help you if you attach your file AND a screenshot of what you want to achieve

and what the problem is. You can create a file to export like this:

Time spent on the tutorials and self paced learning will not be wasted. Also check out the three RULES that are pinned to the forum for further guidance.

Cheers

There are several ways to fully define an arc. I prefer to work with constraints and as few construction lines as possible to keep my sketches free from clutter 😉

Other than that, I'd follow @Drewpan's advice. These tutorials are  not that long but will definitely help you move forward quickly.

You'll still have questions, but you will be much better equipped to ask them 😉
