Non-uniform sketch scale

So, I'm using the helix gear tool to generate a gear.

I try to be clever by editing the designed sketch in the design history, to make custom gears afterwards.

Except one hitch: There isn't a non-uniform 3d sketch scale.

SERIOUSLY WHY ISN'T THERE ONE?

I'm using the helix gear tool to generate a gear. It then generates two sketches, one for the wheel, and another for the tooth but it is a 3D sketch; it then extrudes the tooth from top-side to the bottom-side, making the tooth, and then patterns it around the wheel, combining it afterwards. Tadaa, gear made.

The easy fix to this is to just project the 3D sketch into a flat sketch, BUT OH YOU CAN'T PROJECT 3D SKETCHES. ASFDASHFSDFSDF

So the easy fix to this is to roll history back to before the tooth extrude, extrude the top 3D sketch into an object, then have serious performance issues for some reason, then put a point on the bottom of the object otherwise you can't scale it and it doesn't let you create a new point directly from the scale tool, and then you need to exit sketch because that's a thing you must do, woo extra steps, then modify the extrude path to use your new derived 2d flat sketch and oh remove all rails because you can't scale the rails, which means less customization, and then let the model update and... DONE!

All because you guys don't support a simple "non-uniform" scale of sketches :'(

Can't help with the non uniform scale problem but you can project 3d sketches but it has to be into a different sketch. Within a sketch you can create a copy then use Move To sketch plane from the right click menu to flatten the curves.

I actually would've never figured that out. Quit the sketch to make another sketch to project a different sketch to it... WHO DESIGNED THIS THING?!

F360 really needs contextual "did you know you could..." tips. the tooltips that say "You can use non-uniform" even though that option isn't available, don't help at all. 😞

Still though, F360 is miles beyond current software in terms of functionality. I'm just greedy and want more 🙂

I still need a way to non-uniform scale a 3D sketch so I can also rescale/move the rails, though. The rails are pretty important.

The solid modelers I've used only let you project between sketches because the projection is parametric and you can only have history between sketches, there's no history in a sketch. That said and thinking about it a bit more there is history with mirror and pattern but that's just copies not a new curve. Another one that catches people out is project to surface, you need 2 sketches for this as well.
