Screenshot 2024-01-29 004506.pngI am a learner for Fusion 360. When I was trying to change Opacity following the tutorial, I cannot find the "Opacity Control" button when I right click one of components in my assembly. Could someone please teach me how to solve this problem? Thanks!

@haobo_yuan

Is the component active?
What happens if you expand the component to drill down to the Body level and right click on the body?

Hi,

It is not possible to set the transparency for linked components. Either break the link or create the transparency at the origin.

Hi g-andresen,

Thanks for letting me know that the (external) components in "assembly" file are " linked components" and cannot be changed in "assembly" file. I am in the translation period from SolidWorks to Fusion 360, and it is a little tough for a new learner.

For following viewers, I would like to say my way to make it works:

  • Open the (external) component file
  • Expand "Bodies" and right click the specific body through the "BROWSER" on the left side
  • Change through "Opacity Control"
  • Save the (external) component file
  • Open the "assembly" file, right click the updated component, Get Last Version

Hi  TheCADWhisperer,

Thanks for pointing out that I could change the Opacity when I expand the component to drill down to the Body level and right click on the body. It is really helpful.

Hi,
i'm struggling with the same topic. Changing opacity in the component file works but each time a new version is generated and i'm switching for and back between documents. is this really the intended way?
