Newbie question about design...

Hi experts,

 

I'm new to Fusion 360 and have a challenge - i guess its easy for you but I have not found any tutorials that helps with this question 🙂

 

I have a box with rounded corners - I use the shell on this box. I then copy this body. Now I want to print and then fit these to bodies together. I want to make the wall of one body thinner on the outside and the other body thinner on the inside. On both bodies I would make the body thinner lets say 10mm - when done it should be possible to fit one body on tops of the other. The reason for doing this is creating a "tube" that are longer than my printer can print.

 

Hope you experts can give som advice on how to do this - or and even better show me en a video.

Hi,

 

Here is my .f3d file.

 

I'm not sure what the correct term is but I will try to describe my problem...

 

Right now both bodies are on top of each other since I have used the split body by my midplane. What I want is them to overlap with ex. 10mm. The thickness of the wall is now 2.4mm and the lower part should then be 1.2mm thick (only for the upper 10mm where they overlap) So if I can "remove" 1.2mm of the outside of the lower body (only for top 10mm.) and then do the same for the upper body but just the inside they will fit together and the total height will then be 100mm-10mm.

 

Hope this make sense.

Create a sketch on the face after the split (i.e on the top of bottom part), project one contour, offset it by 1.2mm, extrude (cut) this profile from one part, extrude (join) the same profile to another part.

The combination of the sketch on the end and the offset was exactly was I was missing
