Hello,

First time after the tutorial that I try to use the CAM tools so sorry if my question it stupid 🙂

I need to create a kind of dovetail so I try to use the 2d contour but I only want to select the dovetail itself and not the whole model.

So I select the following:

2019-11-12_10-08-23.jpg

But apparently it select the whole contour:

2019-11-12_10-07-25.jpg

When I simulate I see that the whole contour of the piece is created too:2019-11-12_10-08-49.jpg

Could you help me on it please?

Regards,

Benjamin

Hi,

Even if it's a little fiddly, it's possible.

create broken toolpathcreate broken toolpath

The "Secret" : Leftclick & hold > select "broken contour" > select > +

It is already the way I have tested and I have tried with closed contour and open contour but both options didn't work.

Not sure how you selected but hold the Alt key down to select the first segment, click on the selection to get the selection toolbar then select the end segment. See screencast, file's attached.

In this image from your post you can see the side edges are black and quite bold showing they are part of the selection.

From my screencast above you can see you don't need to select every section, Fusion will chain for you. You probably had something selected at the other end and\or you forgot to click the green "+".

Ok great I am able to do it now (I don't know I was doing wrong exactly but it work 🙂 )

Now that I can select it I still have a warning (i see that you also have it in the screencast):

Warning: Setup Femelle2: Depth (Y) less than the depth of the selected model!

It is just because the bit didn't have enough place to do the whole turn of the circle?

It is only a warning and it's because the stock is smaller than the model in the setup.
