New Title Block - Custom Attributes

How do you get the custom attributes to work in the new title block? The built in ones work fine, but the custom ones I made are not working. When I double click the title block, it just takes me back to edit mode. Where do I put in the info?

Before, I had created my templates with attributes in AutoCad and imported them into Fusion 360. I then just double clicked the title block and a window popped up and I filled out the info and it populated the fields.

Double click the title block as before, Don't touch the POP-UP window. Then just click any blue text to enter or edit it. Then click OK on the pop up.

Text can be added on the title block, but can there be added any "intelligence" in those custom attributes? Just like it automatically can bring the part name etc. on the drawing? Earlier title block was bringing those part names correctly on the drawing, but now there is no any way to get part names  automatically on the drawing.  It just need to write separately on each drawing that I´ll create??

I used to use Bommer to rename my files, but now also that one is useless because those names are not coming on the drawing title blocks.

Hi Mika,

Are you using the same title block you were using when these values were getting automatically populated?  We do support a number of auto-populating attributes in our title blocks.  If you double-click your titleblock and open it in the editor, you'll see an Attribute button in the Text panel of the toolbar.  Once you place it you'll see a list in the dialog of auto-populating attributes (Drawn By, Drawn Date, Drawing Scale, Paper Size, Project Name, Sheet Number and Title 1).  Values for Custom attributes will need to be manually entered in the drawing.

Here are a few Help topics which provide some more information on this:

Attribute dialog box

Title Block Editor

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Mika,

We have plans to include more properties in title blocks, but this is still on our roadmap.  For the initial release of the title block editor, our goal was to allow creation of new auto-populating attributes for the same properties we support in our default ASME and ISO title blocks.

Thanks,
Chris

Before the update those part names was coming on the title block, but no more. Why leave just those ones off and put only some another attributes there, which ones are not so important?

Hi Mika,

Are you using a title block (DWG) that you created outside of Fusion and then inserted into your drawing or template, or one you've customized in Fusion?

There was no intentional change made to change the existing behavior of attributes in title blocks.  If something was working for you and is now not working, that sounds like a bug.  If you can provide some more information (the dwg file you are using or the custom title block you created) or if there's a drawing that has this problem, please export or share with me (christopher.miller@autodesk.com) so I can take a look.

Thanks,

Chris

I too am having this trouble.  I appreciate the custom attributes, but there is not a way (at least that I have found) to bring in the Drawing number, as well as part description.

Am I missing something?

The workaround for now is to use a table\bom even if it's only one component. Pity there's no way to suppress the parts list from the table when there's only one part.

from support on 2019-10-01:

At this time, the only attributes that auto-populate are the CREATED_BY, CREATED_DATE, SHEET, and TITLE_1 attributes. "TITLE_1" will always refer to the design name.

The Drawings development team does intend to add more attributes which will autopopulate in future updates to Fusion 360, but for the time being, the additional attributes are used as placeholders for manual entries. More information on this is available at the links below:

I would like to request these changes be added soon.

It is already possible to have dynamic changing attributes such as the description and part name from components.

I would assume it is not to difficult to added a few more properties to a design file that can be added that auto update and populate given the attributes available on the drawings.

Thanks

I'm guessing that nothing much has changed here at all? Apart from remembering to edit the box each time you update a drawing there is no form of version control.

Why can't a simple thing like the "Date of Issue" be automaticaly populated with the current date and the "Rev" with the current version of the drawing?
