Need help shaping an object

I'm new to autodesk and managed to create the image on the left, but now I'm having trouble with setting the angles. I'm cutting 16" x 16" on 1" thick oak wood. The angles I'm setting is in all the wrong places and add material to my image instead of subtracting. Needing help to get my image from the picture on the left to the image on the right.

File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here if you can’t figure it out.

I personally would "shape" this using T-Splines. Definitely more work, but the end result is worth the effort in my book.
