Howdy Killers-

Soccer ball is a sphere made up of hexagons and pentagons. Looks neat and I can model that reasonably well.

What would it be if you distorted that grid in such a way as to create an egg-shaped soccer ball? So, still hexagons and pentagons, butt all stretched out into an egg shape.

Further more how would you model this egg? If I printed all the polygons needed to make a soccer ball I could glue them up an have a sphere. There would only be two unique pieces. Shooting for a similar low unique piece count for the egg. So radial(?) symmetry is super important.

If you were able to follow that, any advise? 🙂

Long story short...

You heard of tear drop campers?

How about the idea of a foamie?

Smoosh those together.

I want me an egg camper.

I made a light weight router based around a dremel.

Works great on xps foam board.

The idea being I glue up some blanks and mill out the pieces.

Then I can glue all the bits together.

Add some fiberglass or any of the "poor man's" alternatives.

Boom. Foam core egg camper.

There are only seven unique parts.

Means only fourteen setups to make an entire shell.

As designed the egg has an eight foot diameter.

The length is just under twelve feet.

Three inches thick.

Here is a link to an awful demo video of gen one of the router I mentioned.

Gen two is still under construction.

Hi,

I like it! I don't want one myself but I can see you towing it around.

I think that the Domebook Two I posted was designed for people and applications like this.

Looking forward to seeing the final product.
