Name sketch upon creation

Good morning,

Is there a way to name a sketch, feature, body, or component when creating it? Similar to Solidworks? i poked through my preferences but didn't see a checkbox for that.

I personally like to assign names to sketches for reference and it would save a step by maybe a dialog box at the top of the sketch options dialog box to input a name vs creating & having to go back and re-name.

no, there is no way to name a sketch as it is being created.  There is no dialog for the New Sketch command, so you'll need to rename it after creation.

Jeff-can you pretty please suggest to the coders this functionality? (again. I imagine you already have) I know sketch creation doesn't have a dialog box, but just about everything else does.  would be nice if NAME would be one of the options in the dialog boxes.  All of them.

it's on the list, as well as naming a feature at creation time.  Just low priority at the moment.

Bumping this topic to see if it is in the works yet for an upcoming release.. Pretty please!

I like to name all of my sketches but completely cumbersome to have to keep going back and re-naming after the fact.

Found an add-in called "DirectName" that prompts you to name/rename sketches and many other features as you create them. Works perfectly!
