Multiple instance of object with different parameters in single project?

Can someone help me to understand if this is possible in fusion 360? I'd like to build two battery containers, one for AA, and one for AAA. So they will be almost same but with different sizes. So naturally I go with parametric design: Design a single container, with battery sizes customizable. However, later, I found that I can combine this two container together (back to back) to save space. So I will need to:

1. Create a single parametric battery container design

2. Generate two instances, one for AA, and one for AAA

3. Combine two instances together.

4. If something goes wrong, I'd like to go back to the design in #1 and make adjusts and hope the change can propagate to the final result automatically?

Is the above possible with fusion 360? Or, even better, achievable in a single self-contained project?

Step 2, is Copy / Paste New.  Not make a second instance.

the second component will seamlessly accomodate size (parameter) changes.

exactly what Fusion does.

Unless you have Basic Licence, the new configurations May be an option.

Might help....

if you have a paid license, then configurations will be the easiest way to do this.

if not, past new won't get you there because changes made to design 1 won't propagate to design 2.  but there are ways of getting there by using boundary fill and manipulating the timeline to insure changes properly propagate.  a bit tedious though.
