I don't understand why I cannot simply select an object by clicking on it in the case attached. Why is it everything is select when one object is double clicked on. Why is only a portion of an object selected with a single click. Doesn't it seem there's a missing step here like for instance if I want the whole bunch I'd triple click?
Also, I have to mouse over to the display cube every time I want an overhead view of things. Why isn't there a keystroke to get where I need to be? These interface limits are what's making the application tiresome. I don't just use Fusion. I use several other applications. I have to remember a different set of interface conventions for each one, and surprise, I ofter forget. Fusion is the most troublesome as nothing much jibes with any other application interface and on tip of that is the relative paucity of interface options.
In short, at this point, the prospect of pursuing design creation in Fusion is unappealing. It's a real drag.
I don't understand why the move conventions so typical and useable in other cad programs have been abandoned in Fusion. I have to actually call up the move command after finding the object in the browser so as to select it instead of a group, and after a move I must enter a return or mouse over to the dialogue box. If one were able to tally the distance traveled on the screen to accomplish design tasks in fusion and compare it to any other cad package, I'm certain fusion would far exceed any other for miles traveled.
Yes , its a rant. But it's not by any means frivolous.
It's time spent typing this and trying to make things understandable. It's time spent that could otherwise be more productive. Fusion is a tool. To the extent the tool facilitates it purpose it the measure of it's excellence. Fusion as a tool, in my experience is not up to a professional level for product design.
For the time being I'll have to return to Rhino so I can get things done. I hope to hear great things soon.
