Moving Objects in F360

Is there a tutorial anyplace that explains how to move bodies, components, and sketches?

Sometimes I can move things and sometimes I can't Other times I can only move them along a line, or in a single direction - I have no clue what I am doing wrong. Moving objects seems like it should be a simple thing to do.

also, Sometime my sketches will snap as if they are snapping to the grid but it is actually offset and not snapping to the grid.

Hi,

I am not aware of any specific tutorials that cover moving alone although the use of the move command is used in all of them.

From your description I wondered if you were modifying any of the snap/grid settings?

These are accessed via the onscreen toolbar

snapgridsettings.png

From here you can control the snap and grid settings.

Have you modifed any of these?

Thanks for the reply,

No I havne't modified any grid settings. It may be just by design and I am not use to it yet, if I do a sketch and select a face of an object. I have to take care as to were I place a sketch. For example recently I drew 2 circles, the center point was on the objects edge. I could only move the circle along that edge. I couldn't move it in the X direction, only the y. I had to delete them both and redraw them off to the side, then I could move them into position. Sometimes I can move things just fine, so I'm thinking I am getting into some mode of some type without knowing it.

I'll figure it out sooner or later.

If you draw a line or circle and snap to the edge of an object a constraint will be created, to delete the constraint pick it with the left mouse button then click the right mouse button and delete.

This shows a coincident constraint.

If you draw something to or from the origin deleting the constraint is a bit different. First select the point at the origin then right click to get this menu with the option to Delete Coincident.

You need to go through the tutorials, this is all basic stuff. Here's a link and try a search on YouTube.
