moving multiple bodies as one

I have a drawing with 7 different bodies, I want to move all of them as a single unit without having to select each body every time.

I thought creating a group would allow me to select a body in the group and move all of them as one unit but that doesn't seem to work. creating components doesn't seem to do it either.

I feel like i'm missing something simple. Hard to believe that if I build out a project with 1000s of parts, like a car design, I'd have to select each nut bolt and part of the engine, just to move it 3mm.

I think you are missing the obvious or I misunderstood your question.  I did a screencast using three bodies, but the same process will work with many more.  I selected them from the browser but you could use a window or crossing window selection from the design space.

@Anonymous - body groups are just a way to organize the browser, they do not imply any sort of geometric relationship to each other.

Components are the way to go.  Group bodies together into a component.  You can use Move to move that component, but you have to make sure to choose "Components" as the Selection type in the Move command:

ok, I think I know what simple thing I am missing here. how do I "Group bodies together into a component." when I try to do that each body become a separate component, and I have the same problem.

Sure, I'm probably not being clear. If there are 3 of 7 bodies, selecting each one and moving them all is fine, but if ther are 300  bodies, and 200 of them all need to be moved as if they are a single thing, selecting all 200 every time would be tedious. Lets say you are designing a car, the frame has 100 parts, and the engine has 200. and you want to move the engine (all 200 parts) as one part, how would you group the engine parts so they always move as a single unit?

Try Selection sets.  Select all, with selection filters, then create the selection set from that selection.

Might help....

Organize it the way @jeff_strater  recommends.
The frame assembly consists of 100 components or bodies.
If I want to move the frame, I click on it in the browser and move it completely to another place.
But here I would like to point out the recommendations to use the Move command carefully.
