This is likely a silly question...
I have created a 3D sketch on an offset plane from the origin. I now need to move the sketch around a little bit to get the position I want. I can do this using the move tool, but obviously the sketch plane stays where I created it.
Is there a way to reposition the plane (with the sketch) in the Z axis if I do not have another object to redefine the sketch plane to?...
....Actually it turns out all I need to do is edit the offset plane feature in the timeline! So yes, it was a silly question... sorry.
Your description has me confused over what you want,
Plane Positions are editable,
Sketch Planes can be redefined, sometimes with very weird results
Unconstrained Sketch articles can be moved,
3d sketches don’t use the selected plane.
So the answer is yes, probably.
Sorry was on a phone call when you replied.
I may be wrong here, but a sketch plane that is not created on an offset plane is only editable using 'redefine sketch plane', which relies on you having another 'like' plane to redirect the original plane to. If you don't, then you have to start the sketch again on the right plane. So, in essence it is not really as fully editable as an offset plane is... Do I have that right?
I typically construct 3D sketches from a base plane that I keep on a reference face so as to know what I can snap it to when translating.
The question was very simple, how do I edit the offset plane. Answer, in the timeline - which I forgot about. Not so silly really. 🙂
Again your description and maybe terminology is confusing me.
To move an Offset Plane is Edit Feature, any sketch / sketch articles on it will go for the ride, and we both know that.
All Construction planes are a feature in the time line, and can be edited.
Redefine Sketch Plane is a nasty little creature, never know what will happen, and usually not what is expected, (in my experience - I don’t do that anymore)
So combine that with 3d sketching, (not for me).
Might help....
