Move/copy a component keeps using an old position to place the new component.

I'm attempting to Move/Copy a component. The target component is linked to a saved design for easy alterations of the many instances I'll be using. In the browser, the target component is saved as a sub-component of another main level component. (Main project > component > target component)

When i try to move/copy this component, the new component is placed in the position that I originally imported the target component, not in the position that the target component is currently placed. All previous positions have been captured.

I'm stumped. I freehanded the current position of the target component, so replicating it again would be near impossible.

Also, apologies for not including screenshots, i'm unable to share the info publicly.

Any ideas?

1. You don't necessarily need to use linked components to modify all instances of a component in a design. That's the point of being able to contain an assembly of components in one file.

2. If you move/copy a component after initial insertion into a design, then you'll get two icons in the toolbar, one for capturing that position and then another for reverting of the original insertion point. If you use the "Capture position" button there will be a new capture position feature added to the timeline.

3. In general components should be properly assembled using the joints in the Assemble menu. Then you won't have that problem

These are three very basic and essential concepts in Fusion 360 😕
