Mouse middle button "free orbit" not working

With my preferences set to "Solidworks", the middle mouse button does not function, unless I click on the desktop outside of Fusion, and then come back in.  It will stop working every time any operation is performed.

 As a side note, this has been an ongoing issue with the space mouse, it will sit there dead until you mouse click outside of Fusion and then come back in.

It sounds like there may be a focus issue occurring here. If you remove the space mouse from the equations by disabling the driver software, does the issue subside?

Disconnecting the Space mouse does not help.  One thing I did find is that the 3dconnexion configuration displays Fusion360 when things are working correct, and it displays Inventor when motion does not work.  See the snips below---

Hi TM-X,

I've been working to reproduce this issue on our end, and I have a couple questions.

1)  Can you give me any details about your hardware and operating system?

2)  Can you confirm that you are also running Inventor along side of Fusion?  The application displayed in the 3DConnection settings dialog is usually from the OS, based on the application that has focus.  From what you are seeing, Inventor may be grabbing focus from Fusion, so I'll set up that scenario on my end.

Assuming you are running Inventor and Fusion together, can you confirm if this problem still occurs if you are not running Inventor?

Thanks for your help with this and cheers,

@bespenship

  Win10 64,  I7,  32gig, ssd, GTX1070

I use a space mouse pro (USB) and a cad mouse.

I do not have inventor on this computer.

There is something clashing between the space mouse and the cad mouse, If I click the center button while the space mouse is rotating, the center button quits working.

if I move the cad mouse from fusions focus, the space mouse starts working, sometimes.

The best I can tell you is get a space mouse and a cad mouse, set the center button to orbit, and then try orbiting with the center button and the space mouse at the same time.

By the way, the esc, ctrl, shift and alt buttons are still broken on the space mouse

Awesome - the details for your observation are very helpful.

One of the guys on our team has the 3DConnection and space mouse combo - I'll enlist their help in troubleshooting this further.  We'll fix the problem as soon as we can narrow it down, and we work with 3DConnection, so we can get our feedback to them if the issue is in the 3DConnection app, and they are pretty responsive to our input.

Thanks again for your help with this.

Just a quick clarification:

Inventor Home is the process that runs the data panel. When you open a design 3D Connexion becomes focused on the data panel, and thus Inventor Home. You should never see that because there is no need to shift focus away from Fusion.

Thanks for the notes about testing.

Regarding regaining focus:

The easiest way I've found to redirect focus to the Fusion process is to left mouse click the design name at the top of the browser. Does that work for you?

I am also having this same issue with the space mouse pro. I have submitted extended diagnostics to 3dconnexion about it earlier today. Their software constantly switches between thinking its fusion360 and inventor. I loose my rotate constantly, and can only zoom with the space mouse. If I hover over the browser or menu bar with the mouse cursor I can again rotate. Also if I select an item in the browser I can rotate until I deselect that object, at which point rotation stops. If you want to see the video I sent them you can at this link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkYtjSGTkL_EnV8Gkb9U2HJ-dmu3

As I click around different parts of the screen, the 3dconnexion  window bounces between inventor and fusion randomly, one time the data panel will show inventor, next time it shows fusion.

There is definitely a clash between CADmouse and spacemouse on windows only. Thanks for the details to help reproduce it.

There could be many reasons of your computer mouse not working and your cursor disappearing. So, First, we need to find out the cause and then rectify them. Ask some question to find out why is mouse not working like Did you make any changes in mouse properties in control panel? Does the cursor get invisible while using any particular application? if any query click here

If you have installed any new hardware in your system, remove it in order to ensure that it is not creating any conflict with the mouse and hampering its working.

I have a similar issue on Mac. If I use the cube to rotate just a little bit, middle "button" will start working again. Sort of annoying.

@SEIZMICdesign

Are you using 3Dconnexion CAD mouse and Spacemouse (navigator) together?

No, using a MagicMouse with Magic Prefs. This is still a problem also.
