Mounting holes for linked component

Hi Folks,

I am facing the same problem again and again and would like to ask experienced designers for suggestion. Please, take a look at the following design:

motor_mount.png

Please note, that motor is linked component created in separate design. I am using rigid joint to "stick" the motor's face 2 to the hole 1 which is defined in Sketch7. This is how I am telling where the motor should be placed. No problem with it.

The next step is to create holes to fix the motor. They should obviously be aligned with corresponding holes (3, defined in the shaft sketch) on the motor. Moreover, I would also like them to move if I move the hole 1. In addition, the holes should be slightly bigger with defined tolerance (for the screws to slip nicely).

This is where I am stuck. I was trying to use the Hole tool to use shaft sketch as a reference but it seams like it is not possible to select the sketch from linked component. Other ways like adding cylinders aligned with motor holes to cut the mount, feels somehow unnatural.

I would be very thankful if someone can suggest the way to achieve my goal without duplicating sketch from the motor.

Thank you,

Andrey.

P.S. Sorry if you can see the same post twice. I've got strange problems with my first post:

Hi,

1. position motor to mount

2. create sketch on mount & project the holes from motor into

3. extrude/ cut holes with projected profiles.

Please share the file. (if needed)

File > export > save as f3d locally  > attach it to the next post.

Thank you very much for response. I tried the method suggested by @g-andresen and it works for me.
