Mould from design?

I have designed a part to be made in carbon fibre.

To make a CAM file for a female mould from this design can I just flip it over set the tool path up on the inside. I've tried this but it won't let me delete the bottom face so it see's it as a solid and tries to cut around it instead of inside.

A rectangular box with chamfer on the long edges represents my part.

you can also try the combine and select the keep tool. build a block to represent your mold insert or base and combine using your part, then split the block to make your mold halves. here is an example of this. http://a360.co/1B7ooyW this is by no means fully detailed, but shows the basic idea, and feel free to download the file if you like.
hope this helps,
