Model a Cross Hatch Cut

I am trying to design a plate with a cross hatch pattern milled into the surface.  They are essential grooves .047" wide x .060" deep with a 3/8" space between.  The slots intersect at an angle to leave a diamond shape land.  I have tried drawing a line then offset and press/pull a cut into the surface.  Then I create a pattern to cover the rest of the plate and that works great.  The problem I am having is when I go to do the grooves that intersect the first set of grooves.

I try press/pull a slot to create a pattern and I am not successful.   Is there a better way?

Thank you.

Try using Extrude|New body instead of Press/Pull. Do this for both angles. Create the pattern for each angle.  Use Combine|Cut to form the grooves.
