I was working with a .3dm file, upload then open in fusion but only one of the layers is imported into 360, how do I get all the layers?

answer/workaround:  Had to resave the file in Rhino with all layers on.  Fusion 360 doesn't seem to retain any of the layer description or grouping, this was a healthy file at 45mb and still have not been able to successfully upload when all layers on.

I've found the best method to get info from Rhino is to exports as DWG, DWG files bring in surfaces, curves and meshes. In the DWG\DXF blocks are converted into components, only sketches use layer information, so a sketch on Layer1 will create a sketch in Fusion with the name Layer1. I'm pretty sure only surfaces are read from 3dm files.

See this thread for an export scheme for DWG exports from Rhino.

That makes sense Mark, fusion with .3dm conversion has no sketch associated they just get dumped as odd bodies. When imported into 360 with all layers on the cam can't deal with the surfaces and blends bodies turned off, to get a clean tooling I have to create new parts and delete unused layers.  Some of this might be oddities in origional design, not my drawing.

I will try to export the rhino files as dwg to see difference as you mention.  The author is using rhino cam with success but I was hoping to translate drawings to fusion parts as he just uses the surfaces to mill stock 'in a field' and I need mold parts with alignment and jig holes.

Does anybody know if any of this has been updated? I have an assembly (solids) in Rhino with over 200 parts organized into about 50 layers (many sub-layers). When I upload and open in Fusion 360 I have over 200 bodies in a single list, which makes it almost impossible to work on, as I need to work on each part one at a time. It would be awesome if there was a way to translate 'Layer' information from Rhino into 'Group' organization in Fusion. Does anyone know if this is possible or if there is a work-around? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

FYI, I model in Rhino with Grasshopper and I'm using Fusion 360 for it's CAM operations.
