Missing history marker goes to the next level!

First, a big thank you for the last Update and the continued work on Fusion360.

I am curious about sheetmetal and can't wait to have it. Thanks dev team!!!

Ok, for the last 4 updates the disappearing history marker bug was not fixed! I understand that, some bugs have no high

priority and have to wait. --SheetMetal is in the pipe and other cool stuff! 😉 --

But this bug goes to the next level.

Previously, if you switched to fullscreen or hiding the data-panel the history marker disappears.

But If you then leave fullscreen or show the data-panel again the history marker comes back.

That was not a critical bug to me because it was easy to avoid him.

After the January 2017 update the bug has reached a new level.

You can go fullscreen and/or can hide the data-panel and the history marker disappears.

That's the normal odd behavior from previous Fusion360 versions.

But the history marker will never come back again if  you leave fullscreen or display the data-panel.

You have now to restart fusion to get it back.

I know it is hard to improve fusion and fixing a ton of bugs at the same time, but please fix this odd behavior.

I have a imac 27" but can't use the fullscreen or can't hide the data panel.

Look at the cat, can you resist these eyes 🙂

I listen to a local radio station that every evening plays 15 or 30 minutes of Bob Dylan songs. They call it Bunde of Bob.

This bundle of bugs is very pervasive and now I have a timeline marker that visually sits on one part of the timeline and cannot be moved from there, but the "real" timeline marker can still be moved by using "Roll history marker here", but is not really visible as a UI element anymore.

Saving and closing the design is probably going to reset it, but it is rather annoying!

Another really annoying this is that in designs with longer timeline now I can click on a timeline feature but do not get the menu selection allowing me to "Roll history marker here".

So in the screenshot below the timeline is rolled halfway back to abut the middle of the screen and when clicking on the larger grey timeline feature I don't actually get any menu at all, so I have to drag the timeline marker to where I want it. Real fun in combination with the other error above.

@TrippyLighting

Thanks for the trip to the grooveyard of Fusion hits.

I can't reproduce the last case you show unless I RMB on a Base Feature. No menu shows up.

If that's not the problem,

  • Can you relay the steps required to get into that state?
  • Does it happen with any of the nodes that sit after the marker?
  • Is it only when Fusion is full screen, or when the data panel is open?

Thanks,

He He. Sorry about that 😉

This is not fullscreen but with the window maximized.

It also shows up in another design with a longer timeline.

Got it.

The problem where no RMB menu shows up for items after the marker appears to be limited to only certain objects. I can (so far) only find the problem on Base Feature and Split Face.

  • Can you confirm that it's only certain objects that fail?
  • Can you find any other types that I may have missed?

This is now logged and linked to other timeline issues.

Well...using another design with a bigger variety of features I can really only conjure up the menu for a very limited number of features. In that old design I get the menu on the position capture feature and that's about it.

In the design you are looking at I also only get it on the base feature, but not on the split face feature.

Thanks for the help!

My history marker disappeared for my main drawing.   The history marker is still present for a separate component in the same file.  Closing the file and re-opening it does not restore the marker. It would help me complete my drawing if I could restore the marker.

I must apologize that this is not fixed yet. It is being looked at and we are well aware of the issue.

The only thing I can help with is a workaround.

  • When you right click on the timeline, you can pick "Roll History Marker Here". That will move the marker to where you clicked.
  • If you use the play buttons on the left side of the timeline, you can either step forwards or back, or move entirely to the end.

Please let me know if you are blocked from using these other timeline marker controls, and sorry again for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

Something that helps on both of my mac's (mid 2010 27" iMac and 15" 2017 Macbook Pro) is to simply hide/show the data panel.

@Phil.E is this a QT issue ?

I got the history marker back!

How did I get it back?  I worked on my project all day at work on a PC.  Then, I went home and opened the project on my Mac.

Hmmmm . . . I'm back at work on the PC and my history bar is misbehaving again.  If I right-click the history bar, I am not offered a choice to move the marker to that point.  By scrolling the timeline scroll bar, I am able to find the history marker.  When I mouse over it, I get the double bar that suggests I should be able to move it.  Unfortunately, the double bar cannot move the marker.  I hope these clues are helpful to you and your team to correct the problem.

Any updates on the fix for the missing marker bug? if devs were actually modelling anything this would get fixed on the day 1!

Just stumbled into this bug today myself on PC. Losing the history marker is really painful as right-click to roll marker here is tedious and very time consuming.

This (vanishing history marker) is still happening. I "feel" that this happens most often in full screen mode.

I cannot get it back by toggling between windowed and full screen mode or switching to another design.

Other screen glitches such as the view cube becoming unresponsive also appear to be limited to full screen mode.
