Mirroring to create diagonal knurls

I had found a you-tube video explaining how to make a knurl using the "Coil" and "Mirror" functions. I follow the tutorial and everything works, I can even see a preview (shadow) of the mirrored coil until I hit "OK". Then I get an Error message:

MIRROR 1

            COMPUTE FAILED

THE SELECTED FACES DO NOT FORM A PATTERNABLE OBJECT. TRY ADDING OR REMOVING FROM THE SELECTION.

I have watched this video and keep trying over and over, only to get the same results. Is it possible there is something in my settings that I'm not aware of.

Yes, it is possible.  If you export your file and attach here we can have a look.

Also, it may be better to pattern the feature that does the cut instead of faces.  Again, hard to say without the file.
