Midplane with two options

I want to create cuts in these tubes so they fit together neatly. My plan was to use a midplane to define the cutting plane. However, the midplane is generated 90° rotated from the orientation I want (shown in red).

 

My model is symmetrical both front-to-back and left-to-right, and this seems to cause inconsistent behavior. In some joints the midplane is created in the correct orientation, while in others it appears rotated like in the image.

 

I would like to keep the model fully parametric, so I want to avoid using fixed angled planes.

Please attach your model.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it. If needed, ZIP a F3Z file.

Hi,

 

Have you tried Plane at an Angle instead of Mid-Plane? As long as you

have some sort of sketch line or can create an Axis between two points

you should then be able to use the Plane at an Angle command. This will

allow you to adjust the angle to what you want.

I would sketch a line on the plane that you have produced, Extrude it as a surface, then use that as your splitting/cutting tool.
