I am working with a very complex mesh and want to make slices into it as a mesh without converting to a brep first, which has issues of too many faces or open brep body. I know I can select either with the mouse or drag a square around the mesh area I want to delete. I have been using this method with some success. I want to use a sketch for better accuracy and to have, if possible, the ability for Fusion 360 to remake the adjoining triangles of the mesh match the sketch lines used for my purposes....
Folks have said that meshes are inherently fussy about cutting and such, but in the attached pics I lay out what I would like to see happen...if possible
Pic 1 is the mesh with a sketch drawn around the area I want to edit (delete).
Pic 2 is the area selected using the current mesh selection tools (dragging a box around the area to edit) this leads to triangles that cross over the boundary of the region I want to effect.
Pic 3 is a close up of the area with the sketch line and the selection box area shown. This shows the problem encountered when using the selection box to make edits to meshes. The triangles that cross the sketch line are selected also making a mish-mash of the effort to make a clean line delete or edit.
Thanks,
Richard
