material name bug; differs depending on view

I have a model called "SD14" and am interested in SD14 v14. In Fusion, it shows the component "air vap2" named "Nitrogen" (which is what I want).

However, if I go to view my model details in my browser, and choose to view "SD14 v14"

I shows that component "air vap2" is made of "steel" (not what I want).

Would you agree this is a bug? If so, I guess I'm just reporting it. If not, please educate me on why this is not a bug.

Thanks.

@brooknorton1

Applying the physical material on the airvap2 component (drag and drop the physical material on the component and not on the body in airvap2) should list the component name correctly in the browser.

@sanjana.shankar.goli -it seems to be common for users to mix up material and appearances.  Partially do to inconsistences in how fusion refers to theses things across it's product.  I think a good UI improvement would be to make it more clear that MATERIALS have a default appearance associated with them, and that an APPEARANCE can be applied to over ride that default.  but MATERIAL does not equal APPEARANCE.

one example- in the render environment, the appearances are referred to as materials-

@laughingcreek That's a good point. It is possible to confuse "Physical material" and "Appearance" in workspaces other than "Design" in Fusion 360. Thanks for the feedback. I will share it with the UI team.

To add more on the "Physical Material" assignments :

1. On creation of a body, in Fusion 360 desktop application, the default Physical material is "Steel"

2. For a component in Fusion 360 desktop application,

     i. With a single body, the component material name is "Steel" by default.

ii. With multiple bodies, the component material name is "Various".

3. In the component view in Fusion 360 Team Browser, the component material name is "Steel" by default for a component with single or multiple bodies unless the component's physical material is changed specifically in the desktop application as suggested in the previous reply.

There is some discussion of material vs appearance, and it may be an issue, but it is not directly related to my issue, I don't think. I am not dealing with the appearances. In Fusion, below, it can be seen that the component "air vap2" is Nitrogen:

whereas on the web, in my Chrome browser (Windows 11), for the same model S14 v14, we see:

Fusion shows Nitrogen, while the web shows Steel, both at the component level. So still looks like a bug to me.

Thx for your inputs so far.
