Making a hinge a joint.

Trying to get the hang of using joints. Got this far, thought I could make the hinges joints with revolve and swing it open but I don't seem to be able to make the hinges joints.

What am I doing wrong?

Your assembly only has one Component so you cannot apply Joints.

I created two Components from your Bodies using the Combine command and Convert Bodies to Components.  I added a Revolve Joint to one hinge.  Model is attached.

How will you get the pins into the holes in the real world?

Also, your first sketch was placed at the Origin but missing a Coincident Constraint to the Origin.

This is to be a 3D print in place box. The pins should print in place. I've done a couple and they work well. I didn't realize about the Coincident Constraint.

Hey John, I appreciate your help but I am unable to open the file. Says I need to update but it doesn't do an update. I'm using the hobby version.

I couldn't figure out how to use the combine to create the components so I created two new components under Box called top and bottom. I dragged the corresponding bodies to the appropriate new components and then I was able to add the hinge.

What release does it show using (license type doesn't matter)?

You did good on clearance for the pins and holes - but you should have also allowed for a bit of clearance on these contacting faces or they will print merged.

You are correct. It printed with the hinges frozen together. I applied the existing offset face to one of the contacting faces of the hinges and that fixed it.

Thanks!

Your Fusion application is way out of date.
