I am trying to design a rather simple, partially closed box from a couple of sheet metal parts, that are intended to be welded together. The box should look roughly like this:
Obviously, there is no tooling that can efficiently do the whole box from only one flat sheet. At least the last bend will get very challenging. In reality, this isn't a big deal - a lot of edges have to be welded up later anyway. So, just let's convert two bends into cut (shown as flattened bends in the picture):
The resulting three parts should be very easy to cut and to bend and therefore rather cheap. But how to do the cuts in Fusion? Just cutting the partially flattened body will probably lead rather inaccurate parts due to the bend compensation implied in the unfolded bend. Any face deletion operations would probably result in wrong problems with wrong miter angles on some flanges.
Any good ideas?
