Make a hole with a body or selection set

Hi.

I'm new to Fusion 360, so it could be a really easy answer to this, but I can't seem to find the solution!

I'm trying to design a holder for Promarker pens, so I've designed a Promarker pen, and a simple box that I should use the designed pen to make a hole in.

So now I want to use the body or selection set from the pen to make a hole in the box.

I can't use a simple hole since the end of the pen is narrower then the rest, and it has this little dot on the end to prevent it from turning around when it's laying on the table;

Anyone with any good ideas on how to make the hole?

This is exactly what the Combine tool is for.  It allows you to subtract one component or body from another.

Here is a screencast showing this:

Also, you will probably want some clearance in your hole.  So, you'll want to use Press/Pull to enlarge the hole a bit - Combine will create a hole that is exactly the same size as your pen.  It will  probably be too tight of a fit to actually use.  So far, so good.

However...

Your example has a challenge.  The Combine command just subtracts one body from another.  In your case, the marker has this feature:

Which will make it so you cannot pull the marker out of its holder.  So, you will have to modify the hole a bit to include a slot for this part of the pen.

 Hope these pointers help.

Oh my god, thank you so much, Jeff!

I was "afraid" the solution was this simple, but I really couldn't find the right tool!

But this works just as I hoped!

I'm going to modify the pen so the little dot goes the whole way along the pen, and I'll use the press/pull to add a little space.

Thank you so much for the fast reply.
