Magic mouse support

Has the orbit gesture support been removed from the apple magic mouse? All I get now is zoom.

I use to be able to orbit or spin my model with one finger gesture on the mouse.. can I get it back or is there a bug?

Thanks

Damon,

Are you using the Mac App Store version of Fusion or have you downloaded it from fusion3260.autodesk.com?

Gestures are not currently supported in the Mac App Store version.

It's from the autodesk site. I'm a monthly subscriber and it just forced and update.

We did discontinue support of magic mouse rotation.  We were using interfaces that were not supported by Apple to achieve that behavior.   In the latest release, we moved to using supported interfaces to improve the quality of our gesture support.  Unfortunately that meant losing rotation support on the magic mouse.  If/when Apple formally supports it, we will re-add the support.

Also, gestures are now supported on the Mac App Store version.  This is available in the latest Mac App Store version.

Fusion Team:  I use this software professionally and do appreciate mandatory upgrades when they affect my ability to work. I would much prefer to read about the changes before I decide to update.

This update has left me without an efficient way to rotate and will severely affect my productivity until I buy a new mouse.

Please consider offering a choice to upgrade or at least some time to acquire new hardware before the upgrading.

Thank you for the feedback!

We are always listening to you & this would be a great addition to this post on the ideastation: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/be-able-not-to-accept-update-or-roll-...

Alsso the above post will give you an idea what other users are experiencing and saying about automatic upgrades.

Thanks again!

Damon360,

There are several other ways to rotate the view, although not as easy as a gesture on the magic mouse.

  1. Click on the orbit command found in the view toolbar at the bottom of the window Screen Shot 2014-11-28 at 9.13.04 AM.png
  2. Left mouse down and drag on the view cube.
  3. If you have a trackpad, shift - two finger gesture.

We apologize for the issue this change has caused you.  There are times we need to make difficult tradeoffs between quality and functionality. I will bring this up with my colleagues and see if there are other longer term solutions we can provide.

Yeah, yeah, the rotation support for magic mouse was removed because of... I know.

But I think the whole Fusion 360 HCI is a total mess. There are so few options to configure the interaction with the application, that it makes it really not camera ready for daily work.

I'm really annoyed of how bad the support for the magic mouse is - not because I didn't understand the API limitation point, but because I didn't understand why there are no convenient workarounds. E.g. you could implement a simple modifier-key + right-mb-down rotation. Not only the magic mouse does not have a real "middle button", but also some of the very good Logitech mouses with the free spinning scroll wheel.

Has this been revisited recently?  The suggestion to use the right click and keyboard key option is a simple and good onel  Please!

Magic Mouse lover here too - I just downloaded "magicprefs" and it adds all kinds of functionality to the magic mouse. I don't want to link to it because I'm not sure about the rules about that here, but it's easy enough to Google and find.

Never mind the MagicPrefs suggestion. I'm sure it's great for lots of apps but not this one. It worked fine most of the night but after awhile I couldn't pan or rotate the model anymore unless I grabbed the 3D box in the upper right corner to do it.

F360 has never acted this way before today so I'm assuming the magicprefs app was the culprit.
