I am looking for a better workflow to create this cap.

This turned out to be more convoluted than I had hoped. .f3d file is attached.

Hi @TrippyLighting,

I'll definitely take a look at this one.  There might be better approaches, but at an initial glance, it looks pretty good to me.  I won't comment too much on the irony of this design as a good example of a workflow where R.U.L.E. #1 is not applicable...  Smiley Happy

Here is one attempt, using Boundary Fill.  See if you like it.

Well, yes that's a nice workflow, but the problem is really that it does not really create eh geometry I am looking for.

In essence if you sweep a line along that curved elliptical intersect curve and that line would always stay parallel to the ground plane it would create exactly the surface I am looking for.

It's just that I did not get there by sweeping a line, I had to sweep a closed profile for that to succeed.

I had hoped the sweep with guide surface would help me but I could not get it to work.

FWIW, this is the approach I would take.  I don't think it is necessary any better.

I think it is a 1000 times better. Look at the fragmented surface my approach creates (2nd image) , vs. yours (1st image). and it also takes much fewer steps. Win-Win. Thank you very much!
