Loft gives me headaches

Hey everyone,

the "Loft" function is giving me huge headaches (since always) as I don't seem to understand how it works.

From my logic, and I'd assume, everybody elses too, one selects the two surfaces to connect and adds either on each  side or a center line, so the tool knows along which path to go. But 9 out of 10 times this does not work and I just don't understand the logic behind it.

In this example I have a 100mm ring  at a distance of 30mm from a 120mm circle.

I placed a center-line from one ring to the other but it does not create anything.

I tried clicking all alternatives as suggested in the Error-window, but nothing..

Hi

It's better to construct such structures using the surface method – first the external loft, then the internal loft.

Depending on the construction technology and aesthetic expectations, the entire structure can be constructed using the surface method to maintain a constant wall thickness.

You cannot loft hollow geometry. Create a solid loft between the two outer circles and then shell the result. That assumes the wall thickness will be consistent.

If that isn't the case, @kacper.suchomski's solution the best way to achieve hollow geometry.

Hi! If you are trying to create a Sheet Metal part, I suggest you use Lofted Flange command to create the solid body. Then use Rip command to create the opening.

Many thanks!
