Learning sculpt environment. Bridging problem.

Learning the sculpt environment for the first time and I have used bridge a couple of times but with the example below I don't have a clue what went wrong. Have tried several times with similar results.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Are some of those Edges Creased?   Creases can make Bridge this sort of unhappy- as can Symetry.  If so, consider removing the Creases or Symetry, Bridge, and then re-apply as required.
