July 27th 2016 Update - Construction line disaster

The horizontal lines starting at the origin are construction lines and are not discernible from regular lines. The ever so slight difference in shading (opacity ?) after turning them into construction lines is invisible in practice.

The two horizontal lines in the rectangle are also construction lines indicated by the orange color, but previously these were dashed lines. The fix as described as in the update notes as it pertains to construction line visibility unfortunately seems to have more broken that it fixed.

@TrippyLighting

On windows this appears to be working correctly so I'm thinking it's a mac only display error but this definitely needs fixed. I will do some more tests tonight just to make sure.

Well After reading your post I went for a look see, I totally agree unless you zoom in the dashes are not showing up at all , I know my lamps are getting old ( 70 years ) but can they be made dashed and a different colour  to make them distinctive.

At normal view I cannot tell any difference

I was afraid you'd say that Phil 😉

@jeff_strater for Mac users this is actually more hindering than the .stl preview issue. I am hoping that this also gets fixed very soon.

thanks, @TrippyLighting.  Yes, as @chengyun.yang says, we are working on a fix even now.  I hope that we can fix this (and the STL preview) as soon as possible, hopefully within days.  Again, we apologize for these disruptions.  It is quite embarassing, actually...

Hi, Is it possible you can share your Sketch file with us? We have tried on our side, both on Windows and Mac machine and we haven't been able to reproduce it. For the horizontal construction line, it is displayed as the dash line on both machines.

BTW: what is your screen resolution? I am wondering if that could be a factor.

Thanks!

I would love to share the sketch with you but the original sketch I deleted as I made it just for the sake of demonstrating the issue.

However, I had to force quit Fusion 360 this morning as it did not fully wake up (It did something once a minute or so but did not respond to user input, and of course when popping back into action is still stole the window focus) .

After that I cannot reproduce the issue. I might have tried this earlier, but the reason that after the update I did not restart Fusion 360 a second time and this is also there reason I left it open overnight, is that I had two designs open which each take 5 minutes to load.

Should I encounter this again I will boost back here.

Thank you again for your quick attention to this topic!

@TrippyLighting did you let Fusion do the restart after the update, I've had a few problem when I let Fusion auto shutdown and restart. I've found it a lot more reliable if I close fusion properly then restart from the desktop icon. I think sometimes the auto restart is too quick and it restarts before the update is complete. This is on a PC, might be different on a mac.

Actually, It's rearing it's ugly head again.

I provided a solution to a problem in this thread, including a screencast that shows the problem ad 2:43 minutes into the screencast. the .f3d file is attached in the previous post in the thread.

Edit: This was again after waking up the iMac from sleep with Fusion 360 open, so before today's update was downloaded. It seems fine after the download.

I'll let it fall asleep again and see if the issue repeats itself.

@HughesTooling Thanks for the tip!

I've ben able to replicate this behavior even with the newest update.

This is clearly a problem with Fusion 360 being open while the iMac is going to sleep.

Once the iMac wakes back up and Fusion 360 has re-connected this odd construction line behavior can be observed.

The workaround is easy, close and restart Fusion 360. As such for me it's not a high priority topic but it needs to be looked after.

Hi,

Thanks for the more information. We have been able to reproduce this problem. This seems to be easier to reproduce when the GPU memory pressure is high.

We will look into it asap. At the moment, we found this issue could be caused by one bug in another Autodesk component consumed by Fusion so we need to involve that component team to do more investigation. For now we don't know how soon we can fix it. But we will try our best to fix it in August 24 update.

Thanks
