Joints between sketch and construction geometry

I wish in assemblies that Joints could be between sketch/construction Geometry ..
  As well as between features (holes, shafts, edges etc.).

Vital for
a) conceptual mechanism layouts
b) Checking ‘as built’  Alignments (as below)
c) exploring options using  parametric parts in assemblies

There are workarounds eg for the example below, by using 'dummy' axles and ball joints etc.
  .. any other good workarounds ?? .....or am I missing something ???

BUT ... for much design work I really miss Joints between sketch/construction Geometry (as in SWKS, Onshape, etc and all higher end CAD).

Sent the file.  You can do as requested in Fusion Joints, when preparation is prepared.

Thats REALY interesting - so why when I have 2 components cant I get their sketches to play nice  and use joints between them ?

  .. if this where a mechanical joint it would be a 'sliding swivel joint' but if can get sketches to do the same, that would work (and savee me making dummy components).   I'll play and get back - thanks for your input.

1. side  > use joint on axis center

2. side  > use  "between faces" option

Workaround ...  (the circle centre in the example Dave kindly sent 🙏 slides and rotates, but does not swivel)

to get a Sliding-Swivel Joint (if a sketch/construction point could be joined to a line ? - this would not be necessary )

What do you say swivel means.  Revolve or maybe Ball Joint?

I have no idea what’s required, even with that latest pic.

 

so why when I have 2 components cant I get their sketches to play nice

Yes   a 'swivel'  joint is a Ball joint - ie I need a ball joint that can also slide along an axis, as well as swivel through all  X Y Z angles (the example slides and but just rotates around Z) . Change the joint to ball and it is fixed at a point on the line (as attached) and no longer slides along the line.

This is sliding ball joint is simple to do in in 1 step in swks and other CAD by a point in one sketch to a line in another. But fusion needs a workaround and 2 joints as I showed.

In the case in your video,  the 2 axes are aligned. But I dont want axes aligned at the moment hence ball joint, But that does not slide. 

... I've now achieved what I need, using a dummy part and 2 joints a cylindrical joint PLUS  a ball joint  - please see video below. 

 

FWIW I am reverse engineering 2 components from measurements to see if/how they align, and what adjustments need to be made.

sure seems like it would be easier to work this out with a sketch and for get the convoluted jointing.

Its not so important for this case.

but the wish/request remains ... unconstrained sketch joints

for
a) conceptual mechanism layouts
b) Checking ‘as built’  Alignments / reverse engineering. 
c) exploring options using  parametric parts in assemblies

 

Coming from SWKS, and even Onshape, as well as high end cad , the ability is to add a link/joint from anything to anything (hole, edge, line, point, plane, etc ) with any degree of freedom is missed.
