Joint troubles

This is an assembly of components with orbital joints.  I was hoping for something more IK but even so, it seems to be less than easy to pose.  I have continuing issues with the axis of the joints - that is they continually seem to be oriented 90 degrees off what's desired.  Trying to make them right with the degree setting in the command fails.  And I also get some less than clear error texts.

Hi @smallfavor,

Have you tried to use the Revolute joint and limit the movement?

Only the joint at the base of the finger needs to be a ball joint the others should be Revolute as @Beyondforce suggests. If they are 90° out try using "Joint Origin" to create a joint with the correct orientation.
