When a make the joint it's ok, no warnings. Then when I edit the joint I have this "missing joint origing reference".

The part has rotating joint in 3 axis but this joint i rigid.

Hi @hato54,

Do you mind sharing the model with me. My email is james.youmatz@autodesk.com. I'd like to take a deeper peek at the timeline and see what is happening. What joint/component did you change to incite this error?

Thanks,

Is there imported gemoetry involved in teh joint ?

I've seen this very rarely as well but only ever when imported geometry was involved.

@TrippyLighting Could You please clarify, I'm not shore I understand,

Everything  is imported parts, no imported assembly.

I mean geometry created in other CAD software than Fusion 360 and imported from STEP or IGES files.

I've had htis same error happen and found the easiest way to eliminate problems were to simply delet the joint and re-create it.

Hi @hato54,

As @TrippyLighting mentioned - this is what I would need to do as well. Also, in the future, if you need to export a model with referenced components in it, you can send a .f3z from A360. This article here should have more information on how to do that.

I was able to do a lot of clean up on this model. It seems that most of your sketches were created in one location and then the parts were aligned into place. Not too sure what caused all the references to be lost, but what I did was go back into your timeline, working from beginning to end fixing those yellow sketch errors (some were on extrudes). What I would do is redefine the sketch plane (to the original sketch plane) and then do another Compute All. What I found was this helped clean up the model. For the extrudes I had to Edit Feature and then select the profile again and that seemed to do the trick for that. I was able to fix all sketches/extrudes except one - the extrude for R1302-0245-D0. This sketch seems to have some issues. Whenever I go to create a line (to close off the sketch as there is no closed profile), the geometry seems to change. Without knowing how that sketch was created - I wasn't too sure on how to advise to fix this. Besides that, when I got to the joints, I noticed the same error as you. That the joint reference for one of the components was lost. I ended up deleting that joint (to create a more accurate one). I started by creating a joint origin and then reorienting the axis so it that it aligned more with the origin axes as opposed to its relative position in space. Once that was set up, I set up the rigid joint and the piece worked great! I have emailed you the .f3d model, but the screencast below will document the workflow I used on the joint.

@hato54 based on what @James.Youmatz found in your model I'd suggest you review Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1

Thank You @James.Youmatz for spending time to help me.

Is that anyway to change the speed of the screencast, You work so fast.

I thing this is very tricky and hard to learn,  the main issue is the hole "C-frame" is connected using revolute joint and thereafter the angles is "floating" and Fusion 360 have problem with that?

If I use compute on my original file (attached) I will not get any errors o warnings, strange.

In the file attached I got errors on Rigid22 - 26. (if I try to edit).

Still working with this problem......

@TrippyLighting Based on how I worked with this design I can't see that I'm breaking the #R.U.L.E 1?

I thing this could be a Fusion 360 problem because no errors on computing and all the "error joints" (22 - 26) could move in X, Y,  Z-axis.

I have to check everything one more time, some parts it's not components!

I'll be back.....

@James.Youmatz, I made a new simply assembly using three components, still a have the same error (when I edit the last joint)

No errors when Compute all.

Hi @hato54,

Very strange - I see the same error you do. Luckily to fix this if you edit the joint and then just reselect the joint origin for the missing joint reference, it seems to clear up just fine. What's concerning is how often this is happening. The one thing I do notice - is this seems to be the same piece that was having an issue in your last assembly. Have you been noticing this with any other parts at all - or just this one? I will keep digging into your model to see if I can discover the root cause of this. Attached is my .f3z model with the fix.

Thanks,

Hi @James.Youmatz

When I upload "Your" model and try to edit the last joint I still have this "missing joint origin reference".

And if I include some more parts I get the same message.

I tru to make some more tests.

Hi @James.Youmatz

Now I made a really simple test, 2 parts.

Same problem!

I have checked both components but can't find any errors.

Hi @hato54,

I went over this with some teammates and the strange thing is that a Compute All does not trigger this error message. It's almost as if it knows that the joint exists and what the origins are, but the dialog is displaying that there is a missing reference. I have to go ahead and log this with development for them to take a peek at. I will keep playing with this to see if we can find what is the cause of this (as it seems to be related to this one part or how the joint is being created).

While I am not sure it has anything to do with the joint problem the structure of your assembly is suboptimal and would be the result of not following R.U.L.E #1.

The linked component as shown by the symbol is actually an assembly with one other component in it that has one body in it. It looks like this:

Screen Shot 2016-10-31 at 5.22.56 PM.png

But should look like this:

Screen Shot 2016-10-31 at 5.26.10 PM.png

Even worse in this linked component you have one body on the top level, then you ave another component in it that contains another body.

Screen Shot 2016-10-31 at 5.50.50 PM.png

That should look like this and should be assembled properly within that linked assembly (I have not done that), because otherwise one of the components will just be un-constrained.

Hi @TrippyLighting

I'm really glad that You take time to help me.

Yes I also found this "error" as You, I cleaned it up but still got same type of errors.

Then I made a really simple assembly two part but still I have these type of error.

See above.

I really appreciate You help!
