joining two components so they move together.

I have an air cylinder. The piston moves in a sliding motion. No problem with that. I need to join a rod eye, a separate component brought in from another drawing, such that when the piston slides the rod eye moves with the rod. I have tried a number of things: creating a rigid group from the rod component and rod eye components for example, and nothing has worked so far. What happens is the rod slides but the rod eye stays fixed in space. So the rod moves through the rod eye.

Any suggestions?

A rigid joint should work. Can you post the link to the design? One thing to note is that if you just animate the slider joint, it won't show the two moving together. You'd need to choose Animate Model to see all the joints working at once.

How do you animate model? when I right click on the my joint in the side menu I only have "animate joint" and "animate joint relationship and both isolate the two components directly in the joint.
