January Update Locking Up

Hi everyone

Since the January update I have noticed very frequent locking up of the Fusion interface. I can't put my finger on what causes it but I have attached a screen shot of what the screen looks like when it happens.

FusionLock.png

It happens every couple of minutes during heavy use. The system comes back after about a minute or two, basically stalled for that entire period.

Are you interacting more often with cloud resourced perhaps? I am located in Australia so perhaps others have not seem the issue because they have instant access to the Internet rather than the latency I would experience reaching US based cloud resources?

Note that the area under the tree is black. Perhaps that will give a clue to the code that is stalling?

Maybe a routine just before the screen repaint?

Regards

Hi @merik,

The "black browser" just indicates that Fusion is very busy doing something, and the display gets starved for resources, so the transparency of the browser area degrades.  It will happen for any time-consuming operation.  Next time you see this, pay attention to what operations you are doing at the time, how big your model is, etc.

And, be patient.  Most times Fusion will complete the operation.  Try not to Force Quit unless you are certain that it is not coming back.

The only operation where internet bandwidth should affect you are things like Save or Open of a model.  If all you are doing is modeling operations, the network is not really involved at all.

And, as always, if you share your model here, others will be very happy to help.

Jeff
