Is there a tool to compare models to see if they have the same geometry?

So we're a machine shop that makes parts. Often we'll get a job that's the same job but a later/different revision. Usually the updated revision is actually different but often the geometry is exactly the same.
I'll usually import the updated model into the file which has the geometry of the old revision, place the new model in the same place the old model is in, and then rotate my camera and watch for any faces that don't have artifacts like the ones shown below. If every face has artifacts I'm running the old revision and amending the name to show both revisions.
Is there a tool that can do this but with a higher level of confidence than looking for artifacts on overlapping geometry?
