Is there a list of UniCode Characters that work in Fusion Drafting?

I've found several Unicode characters that are a time saver and they make my drawings look tidy (such as alt+0177 ±,alt+0176 °,alt+0216 Ø). I need to type letters inside of circles on my drawing at the end of a leader. Has anybody done this?

Thanks,

-Bill

I use this site  for my Unicode.  To enter the value, hold down the Alt key and press "+" on your numeric pad and then enter the code, let go of the Alt key and the character is entered.  If letters are involved you of course can type them from the regular keyboard.  Remember, the Alt key must be held down during the whole key in process.  I have not found a way to place two characters on top of each other as you are asking for.

I did a little digging and came up with this Unicode list of alphanumeric characters inside circle.  Works well in Fusion 360 drawing using the ALT (hold) + code method.

Hi Mr.Bill_Hicago,

Consider looking at charmap (Win app, apple munchers have their own). Given the proper fonts installed, choices are almost unlimited.

Be aware though that some fonts ( including those supplied by MS ) might cause some troubles in certain F360 circumstances, do not whinge though, just find another one :).

Regards

MichaelT

PS. In your current project check font(s) Wingdings.

This is really odd. If I use the chart on the Unicode link in MS Word, I can type alt+9398 and get a circle with a capital A inside.  I can place the desired character here if I copy and paste it from Word.

If I type the command in this forum, or in Fusion, I get:" ╢"

There is no option to paste text when using Fusion. Am I stuck??

Please see my last post, did you say you could successfully do this in Fusion Drawing text?

Yes, using the specified Unicode chart, it works just fine with a leader.  Make sure you use the ALT (hold thru typing all the code) + (plus key on numeric pad) 24b6 (the b is from the keyboard all other characters are from the numeric pad).  Actually, using numbers and letters from the main keyboard work also, just not the plus key.   See screencast

I'm using Arial as my font (default), I get the spades symbol when I type the command you described. Is it possible we're using different fonts, or different operating systems? I'm using MS10

As you can see from my screencast, I to am using the font Arial, which was installed with my Windows 10 installation.  How about you publishing a screencast, with a description of what you are pressing, so I can see the difference?

Bill,

I did this long ago on my Windows 10 installation, so forgot about it.  I think this is your issue.  If you do not feel comfortable working with the Registry, please get someone to do this for you.

Hi All

I just stumbled across this post while looking for something else.

A few weeks back, I put together a reference for Fusion 360 drawings and Unicode. Hope that it's helpful for the next few people that find this post: https://clintbrown.co.uk/2021/09/17/unicode-reference-for-extra-symbols/

Hi Mr Clint Brown,

Would it be legally and physically possible to assemble and deliver the drawing symbols/glyphs as a separate TrueType font file?

Hi @MichaelT_123

I'm sure that someone could build a TrueType font that contained these. There are some fonts on the web that do something similar, like put text or numbers into bubbles.

For now, I'm happy with Unicode.

Hi Mr Clint Brown

Most TT fonts today use Unicode standard glyphs encoding tables, so there is no contradiction between TT font and Unicode. The purpose of putting "drawing glyphs" into one file would be to organize, standardise and simplify things.
