So in Rhino (and turbocad before it and one other I forget its name before that) I used to use a function called bounding box. It would draw a rectangle around the selected objects instantly. It made modeling a lot faster, such as centering letters and text as I could pick up corner point, mid points etc. Is there any way to replicate that in Fusion, or do I have to manually draw boxes into all my text?

No bounding box that I'm aware of.  The problem with a bounding box in parametric design is that it changes anytime you change the body/sketch that it is bounding.  share some pictures or designs and maybe someone will have an idea on how to easily do what you want.  You can bet the approach will be at least a little bit different than Rhino.

Sure, attached is a file that includes two different examples of text work we do in the shop. The first is centering text into the center of a square (all students first project on the CNC mill is to machine out their name in a 3x6" aluminum plate).

The second is moving text from to a construction line. So what I would normally do is run a bounding box function then move the text with box to the construction line snaping to the midpoint of the box, often moving it away from the end of the construction line if I wanted a space between it or some reason.

Right now the only way I know how to do it in Fusion is to draw, using the dashed blue lines that help you draw, each side of a rectangle around the text, then extend them, trim them, drawing a perfect box around the text. Then I would have to put a line down the middle, then a point object in the middle of that, followed by placing a point in the center of the box then move point to point. Seems like there has to be a better way to do it.

Try using Centre point rectangle. Most of the construction you mentioned is done with selecting approx centre of text, drag a corner and then move the rectangle or coner handles.

Will get you close.

Thanks, it does get me close, is there any way to get the rectangle edges to snap to the text when I drag them in? My OCD is kicking in and wants it perfect

You can make the line coincident or co linear, dependent on the letters involved.  Not tried it and away from Fusion till tomorrow.

There is a script on this post - http://modthemachine.typepad.com/my_weblog/2017/06/getting-the-overall-size-of-parts.html - that will do what you are looking for. The blog post is about a slightly different topic (how to get part dimensions programatically and why a bounding box doesnt always work) but the script will generate a 3D sketch around your component.
