Is it possible to make a "rounded" taper angle?

There's probably a clearer way to define this... but here goes:

I am creating a wheel from a sketch.

I want to create a smooth rounded shape, much like a rollerblade/luggage wheel.

However, the only option I have in the extrusion feature is nothing but a taper angle, which is far too sharp.

 

Does anyone know what tools I can use to achieve this? I'm sure it's somewhere in the modify menu, but I can't seem to figure it out. Probably Fillet? But it doesn't seem to give the desired shape...

revolve is probably a better tool-

I know of the revolve tool, but unfortunately I am unable to apply it, mostly because my design follows a sketch of four wheels connected by specific dimensions.

So I think the only solution I have now is to use the above sketch.

I suppose I can use the Revolve tool by creating four planes to sketch on, but it seems like a complex task to do so I am fairly hesitant to do it.

 

Do you have any alternative methods?

You only model one wheel, then create copies of it.  If they are identical then use Copy/Paste.  If they have different features, then use Copy/Paste New.  Use joints to position them relative to each other.

I'm not very familiar with joints...

The wheels I'm setting up are inline skate (rollerblade) wheels which can differ from skate to skate.

 

Some skates have a simple uniform size and flat design, some are rockered (some wheels higher off the ground than others) some have multi-sized wheels, or even a combination of the two. The only thing constant is the width of all the wheels.

 

Can joints and copying wheels effectively replicate this? I'm not too familiar with the Joint tool.

From tinkering around, it turns out that I could do the following with my existing sketches!

All this time I thought that fillets can only be applied to edges, but it turns out to work really well with faces as well!

It's a lot less elegant than the solution you suggested... but I'd like to get away with the same result but with less work if I can 😛

Still though, thanks again for your advice! I'll need to make different wheel configs so I'll likely use your advice to produce those instead.

Hi,

If you are not satisfied with fillets, you can also create a custom profile on a plane on path and sweep it around the wheel along the circle as a cutting tool.
