I have a problem installing Fusion 360 on my work computer. I'm only using it for personal work.

In the Autodesk Application Streamin I very quicly get an Unexpected Error. I have attached the log.

This is a Win7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit, 8GB RAM.

My company has a transparent http proxy.

Hi stianstrips,

From your log I can see that there was a SSL issue which was also reported in this thread...

Sometimes it appears to be caused by a missing Windows Update.

The specific update is KB931125 and can be found through the Microsoft site at http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=root%20certificate%20update (Note - this page may require Internet Explorer)

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Josef

Ok. I can not install a windows update on this computer. It is controlled by the IT guys.

Do you have any other way of downloading Fusion 360? If not It looks like I wont be able to install it on this computer. I had hoped to use my work computer after working hours this week.

Hi stianstrips,

I've just received a workaround for your problem from a develepment, please could you try set an environment variable to DISABLE_SSLPEERVERIFY=YES?

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the workaround but now I get this:

Unable to install at this time. Please try again later.

Doesn't look related as I get it both with and without the variable. So I'll wait 🙂

Hi again,

please, are you installing Fusion from within Chrome or different browser. Could you please try to use Internet Explorer?

Josef

Hi stianstrips,

I am sorry to hear that our installer is not working in your corporate environment. Unfortunately, we have not had a lot of experience interacting with and testing against transparent proxies and I suspect we are running in to an issue where the proxy is trying to impersonate our servers. We try to prevent this as the ability to do so opens the possibility of malicious parties doing the same thing and delivering unauthorized content.

However, if it's as point-blank as all this, I would assume standard web browsers would complain a lot and your environment would be unusable, so if you would like to contact me via PM so that I can get more detailed information about your environment to see if we can implement a safe solution, then I will be glad to work through this.

The other alternative is to use a non-transparent proxy, which I have just validated works in our case. If you have access to one of these on your network, then you can configure our installer to connect to this by setting the environment variables http_proxy and https_proxy to reference the ip address (or hostname) and port of the proxy server. I can help with that as well if needed and supported by your infrasturcture.
