Inserting DFX file Scaled Wrong

Strange problem, maybe, or maybe just a newbie's lack of knowledge.

I have created a DFX file for an airfoil that I create using a script that reads a dat file into DraftSight.  The file is read into DraftSight such that the chord is 1 inch.  That file is then saved as a DFX.  The file inserts into Fusion360 fine except that it comes in dimensioned to 1 Centimeter.  I do have the units control set on inches.

The DFX file has one line (polyline) describing the outline of the airfoil.  I've also tried exploding that line such that it is many single lines.  Both will insert into Fusion 360 with the same results.....i.e. 1 Centimeter chord.

I can work around this by scaling but it shouldn't be necessary.  I'm probably missing something, any help would be appreciated...

Are you uploading the file through the data panel or using Insert DXF on the insert menu. Insert DXF seems to read the units correctly, if that's what you used and it doesn't work can you upload a sample file.

Hi Mark,

If I did this correctly, here's the link to the test file,

http://a360.co/1JSJw7k

I used the insert command with this file but also, on another test, uploaded the dxf through the data panel and started it from there.  The results were the same.

Measuring the chord after inserting show the chord to be 25/64"....very close to 1 Centimeter.  As I said above, the dxf file was developed from a .dat file that sets the chord length  to 1"

Also attached the dxf file used for this test below..

Thanks for the help here,

Don

There should be a section in the dxf file $NSUNITS that specifies the units but there's noting in the DXF file you attached. Here's a link with info for the DXF header

Mark,

That's a little above my pay grade but it did prompt me to the fix.  I checked in the formatting command of Draftsight and found a "unitless" box that I changed to "inches".  Saved the .dxf again, and inserted it in Fusion360.....:D  Worked just like it should....thank you a bunch.

I haven't figured a way to scale in the sketch window, but I can do the scaling part in Draftsight prior to saving the dxf, no problem.

Thanks again for your help, have a good week,

Don
