Inserted a threaded insert, but need to remove space occupied by part for STL

I am VERY new to Fusion 360, which I started using once I acquired my first 3D printer. I am trying to create a design that includes heat-pressed threaded inserts. I want to create the cavity that the threaded insert will go into and thought that if I inserted it as a part from the "Insert"-> "Insert a manufacturer part" and then selected an M3 insert, I could place it where I wanted it. Now that I have the part where I want, How do I create the void space currently taken up by this part? I would like it to leave the hole for me to melt in the threaded insert. I would think that shouldn't be too difficult, but I just can't figure it out at this time.

Just as a practical matter, heat-set inserts are best handled with a hole of standard diameter and depth. You can still include the actual inserts in the model to show where they go, but don't use the geometry of the insert to calculate the hole size.

 

The reason for this is that you don't actually want to match the insert. The insert has a knurled exterior that messes things up. It's hollow. And besides, you want exactly the right sized hole that allows the insert to set securely without oozing plastic out the bottom when set, which is an empirically-determined set of dimensions.

 

The Voron standard is a hole of diameter 4.7mm and depth 5mm. This works great, but it's intended for a specific design of insert, namely the ones shown here in M3 X D5.0 X L4.0 (but also available elsewhere). You can use different inserts, but you'll have to do some experiments to determine what hole size works best.
