Insert Parametric Assembly into Another Design

Hello!

I'm wondering the best practice for the following:

In short, I'd like to make a copy of an assembly.  I have a project composed of multiple external components, some of which have parameters set for that specific project.  I want to be able to copy the whole assembly project so that the sub-components can get copied over as well, as opposed to staying linked to the original sub-components/derived components.

I'm aware of Configurations, but we make so many versions with different dimensions that I'm afraid it could become unwieldy with so many configurations on the original file.  Especially if I were to have to go to each separate sub-component and adjust the parameters for that particular configuration.

Is there no way to do what I'm hoping to do?  It seems like it'd be a fairly common use case.  Maybe Fusion360 isn't geared towards production in that way?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

It isn't, but it does come up occasionally.

You can export that assembly as a .f3z file (a zipped file including the master assembly and all linked/derived files) and re-import it into a new project or folder. However, you'll lose the version history.

@jasonFUGEG

The functionality you are asking for - to copy the entire assembly with its linked components, is not currently available but is on our roadmap.  We understand the importance of it and will get to it at some point in time.  For now you can use the workaround that @TrippyLighting suggests.
